The Glenorchy Community Fund was set up to raise money for the provision of grants to community organisations for projects that benefit the people of the City of Glenorchy.
The Glenorchy Community Fund Ltd provides a growing source of financial support to not-for-profit groups and organisations for worthy projects that will benefit and strengthen the community of Glenorchy.
Many of you will be experiencing hardship as a result of Covid 19 and the measures that
have been required to control this pandemic. Some of you will experience
unemployment or loss of income while others will experience a significant loss to their
businesses and livelihoods. Many of those who continue to be employed will be in front
line roles where you face daily challenges and possible risks to your own health. The
most important thing is for you and your family to stay safe and look after each other
through these difficult times.
Clearly, this is also a difficult time for charities and community organisations. Many of
the activities that are arranged by the Glenorchy Community Fund involve social
interaction and will not be possible for the foreseeable future. The activities that will
not take place this year include the Annual Dinner, and our regular Bunnings BBQ
which ordinarily make a significant contribution to our funds. In addition to these
challenges, our investments have declined in the current unstable market, although
with prudent management and a conservative investment strategy, the impact will be
For all these reasons and because many of the community organisations who would
ordinarily seek grants will currently be closed, we have suspended grant funding at this
time. This is unfortunate but we expect to recommence in 2021.
